How an idea became a reality- "beScene"

I'm a big believer that any dream you have can come true. I truly believe that anything is possible.

For me, I have alot of dreams. As a kid, my imagination ran wild and to this day it still keeps me motivated and as creative as ever.

Not to long ago, I met a girl at a Fashion show named Carla Caceres. Her passion is fashion and the arts. We began collaborating on photoshoots and brainstorming like crazy on projects we could do together.

Her knack for style and flair for leadership led me to believe that she could start her own magazine. I told her to start a blog and gather up some great writers and artists and sure enough, she did just that!! In less than a year she has assembled a group of talented writers, photographers and artists and is now launching the first issue of her very own magazine "beScene"!!

Although I am not as involved with this project as I was at first, expect there to be some great collaborations with Nick Flash & beScene in the future!

Untill then, RSVP now to this extraordinary magazine launch at SET nightclub Nov 7th. and remember, follow your dreams and they will come true!

A Bob Dylan Influence

The past month or so, Bob Dylan has been an extreme influence on me. I had never really been a fan of his at all growing up, and when I started djing I never played any of his tracks because they wouldn't really make anyone dance. After Dj Corrin {San Fran} put me onto Mark Ronson's remix of Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine), I was hooked. I discovered Bob has over 50 albums and a serious amount of songs he has written. After digging through his enormous collection I found so many great songs that Inspired me. Here are a few of my favorites.

The Road to Stardom: Brooke Helvie

The road to super- stardom can be a long and unpredictable journey. I believe in my heart that I have a a superior knack for spotting talent, and a great eye when it comes to predicting the next "Biggest Thing"

Our new magazine and blog "beScene" will be following local talent all over the world and keep you updated on how they are making their dreams a reality...or not.....

Brooke Helvie, in my opinion, has that "it factor"

I first met Brooke three to four years ago while I was djing an event at "The Players Club" in Wellington Fl. She was a hostess then, but I knew in my heart she was destined for greatness in some way.

Check out "The Players Club" Welllington here...The Players Club

About a year or two later, I met up with Brooke again while I was djing "Project Graduation" at Wellington High School, Class '07. She then informed me she was singing country music and was recording some songs. I got her myspace info and left it at that.
Check her myspace out here.

Months later, I was djing a monday night event at a local Duffy's, where our theme was "Country". I gave Brooke a call knowing she was a great local artist and knew alot of people that would love to come see her perform.

Needless to say, she came and sang her heart out.
The Duffy's staff, family and friends, loyal customers, and I, Nick flash, were all blown away.

This year, 2009, I ran into her agin at club 251.

After meeting with her and her Mom today, we came up with some incredible ideas on a photoshoot.

I then learned she was a contestant on Ameriacn idol, and blew all three judges,
Simon, Paula, & Randy away!!!

Fairy Tales Come True: Rosie Hardy {Written by Nick Flash}

Check this out!! Rosie Hardy Flickr

Fairy Tales are real. We all hold the key that unlocks our enchanting destiny. It is up to us to dig deep into our imaginations and bring our fairy tales to life.

Skeptics will constantly try to persuade us that magic is all a trick, love is all an illusion, and there are never any happy endings. This type of pessimism is why nowadays fairy tales are few and far between. Violence is at an all time high, the divorce rate is through the roof, and books are being avoided by our youth in order to be entertained by video games & blue ray discs. It is clear to me that through Rosie Hardy's artwork, imagination & fantasy shall conquer all.

I recently discovered Rosie Hardy's photography on a blog called I Hunt Zombies and was instantly memorized. I had never really seen anything like it. Her self portraits are so surreal they look almost like a watercolor painting. I wondered just how in the heck she was able to create such images with only a camera and then It dawned on me...fairy tale magic.

Her photo's tell the stories of fantasy, wonder, happiness, sorrow, pain, tragedy and TRUE LOVE. After meeting her true life prince, Aaron Nace {on Flickr), their romance blossomed into into extraordinary works of art that gives 1,000's of their online fans hope that one day they will find their soul mate and live happily ever after. Read their incredible love story here.
Rosie & Aaron's Romantic Tale

Rosie's Fairy-Tale is not all flowers & sunshine though, their are many out there who despise her for her imagination and romantic love life. Critics from all over continue to say her work is plagiarism, and they slander her in blogs and magazines from all around the globe. Here is one of her biggest critics...Rosie's ART Slander

While the agnostic will continue to live in their clouded world of pessimism and knock the existence of fairy-tales, it is up to us to truly look deep inside ourselves and use our wonderful gift of imagination to make all of our dreams come true. As you look at Rosie's photo's, you will become immersed in a land of fantasy you never knew existed.

Check it out once again and lemme know what you think.

What the world needs is a little inspiration…

What this country needs is more people to inspire others with confidence, and fewer people to discourage any initiative in the right direction more to get into the thick of things, fewer to sit on the sidelines, merely finding fault more to point out what's right with the world, and fewer to keep harping on what's wrong with it and more who are interested in lighting candles, and fewer who blow them out.

Super J at The Improv

Here at "Be Scene" one of my main focuses is to bring you what I think is the hippest & freshest styles and trends before they hit the mainstream. I've always known I've had a knack for discovering new talent, so I am here to introduce you to a fresh new face that soon will have a big impact on the comedy scene. His name is Jordan Garnett aka. Super J.

Jordan is only 17 years old, but his sense of humor and delivery of jokes puts him in the ranks of some of the best comedians in the business.I first ran into "Super J " on myspace about a year ago. Check it out here myspace.com/jordanissohot
At the time, he was hosting a weekly podcast that had me rolling on the floor in hysteria every time I heard it. He was only a freshman or sophomore in high school then, but he already had half of the school following him online and anxious to hear what antics he was up to from week to week. Aside from that, he was also posting hilarious video's on youtube reminiscent of old school Tom Green videos, but with his own unique twist.

Check out his Youtube Channel here.. Jordan On You Tube

After realizing what comedic potential was shining through this young man, I decided to hit him up and try to get a project going for him in the studio. My idea was to create a kind of comedy album for him similar to the style Adam Sandler used to do before he started making Blockbuster movies. It never went through quite like I had planned however, because both of us had crazy busy schedules. Nevertheless, I had stressed to him that he should take his love for comedy and hit the stage and do some stand up. Needless to say, that's what he did, Hard.

Tuesday, March 24th 2009 was open mic night at the improv and Jordan's first time ever hitting the stage. Me and A bunch of Jordan's close friends, family & fans came out to support him. Butterfly's in his stomach and first time jitters were hitting him hard as he thought of all the big name comidians like Dane Cook and others who bombed the first time they went on stage. There was alot riding on his performance becuase the funniest new comidian gets a shot at $300 and a chance to open for all the top headlining comedians that come into town to perform at the improv.

Jordan was competeing against 14 other comedians who had plenty more stage experience than he did, and had been doing stand-up Much Much longer. I must say, I was nervous just waiting for him to get on stage because most of the other comedians were pretty damn funny. When Jordan hit the stage though, he had the audience captivated from the moment he set foot on the wooden stage. For a First-timer, he had the audience roaring with laughter as he not only told funny jokes, but he used his youthful energy to deliver a comidec presence like non other that the audience had ever seen before.

At the end of the night, after they tallyed up all the votes, Jordan had won first place, and beat out all the other comedians who had stepped on stage with him. He will now be in the finals on April 21st 2009 to compete for the grand prize I mentioned earlier. His family and fans went balistic and showed him mad love when they heard the great news. here are some pics I took of Jordan tearing up the stage. His teacher was there filmng the whole thing, so if I can get ahold of the tape, I will surely share it with you all.

Ahhh The Glory of hard work and persistence...
