Sloppy Seconds Turns 4!

After seeing this poster art design by Caleb Gauge  I was absolutely convinced that creative art design for fliers can almost make or break an event.  Sloppy Seconds, a party in the heart of the ATL that is always on the forefront of Music and fashion, celebrates it's 4th birthday this Saturday. {4 is like 50 in club years}

With a constant flow of fresh music talent and fresh art work month after month, it's no wonder why the Sloppy Seconds party reins supreme in Atlanta's scene.

Atlanta, GA, summer of 2006... A group of restless rabble rousers decided to shake up the mundane and supply Atlanta's underworld with an aesthetic overdose of genres, cultures, and personalities. They named there baby SLOPPY SECONDS.

With his 4th birthday just around the corner, Sloppy is now the longest running dance riot in all the land and continues to be a breeding ground for the nefarious.

Overthrow welcomes you to the 4th birthday of our snot nosed little party monster...

HEART OF GOLD FASHION SHOW

GIRL TALK...

On the night of March 6th 2010, Wasabi Fashion Kult, MOD Media & The Opium Group presented Miss Sixty's 2010 Spring & Summer Collection at Mansion Nightclub. It was the rite time and most definitely the rite place for Miami's top ten models to strut the collection that consisted of bright colored dresses, spring prints, and the latest denim. Whoa did they work that catwalk!

There, they transformed the runway into a fashion odyssey. The airwaves were filled with the resonating sounds of world renowned superstar DJ Tamara Sky. She seamlessly laid a groove that consisted of Disco,Electro House, & 80's Rock. As the roar of the crowd built, out came the models, leaving the audience in awe! The styles were hip, the models were fabulous, and the music was groovy. "What an awesome show", I thought. With all the "eye candy" in sight, I managed to grab a few pics that described the evening.

In conclusion, these two well established sisters, Christine & Jennifer Henry have an enormous impact on the fashion world.  Teaming up with The Opium Group, WFK, and Miss Sixty, MOD Media has once again "done it".  Check out their blog at

Alice In Wonderland Fashion Show

Inspired by the release of Tim Burton's latest "Alice in Wonderland" remake, Murkem and I decided to set out on an adventure of our own. We happened to spot an unusually sexy white rabbit running down the streets of Miami Beach in a bikini. Awestruck, we decided to follow her to see where she was off to in such a hurry. We caught up with her on the corner of Lincoln road & Washington to find out the scoop.

"I'm late, I'm late!" she screamed as she try to sprint passed us. It seemed that she was late for a runway show at SET, where she would be modeling B. Swim-wear's newest spring/summer collection hosted by the fabulous girls at Mod Media. {Model's are always late btw} She slipped us two red pills labeled "eat me" "Take these if you wanna join me" she said enticingly. Sure enough we did, and off to the party we went.

Inside, we were enveloped by a wonderland of SET's luscious soundscapes, illustrious light show, and abundance of beautiful women. Working the runway was Miami's top model's strutting their stuff in the likeness of Alice, The Mad Hatter, Tweddle dee & Tweedle Dum, and even the Wicked queen of hearts. We happened to snap a few pictures while we were inside, here's what we captured....

After the show, we were secretly invited to the Mad Hatters Tea party at an undisclosed location. The after party quickly turned into a mind altering journey filled with colorful characters & psychedelic substances.

Pizza & Beer

Now that Murkem & I are living in Miami beach at 1300 social club, we are literally blocks away from all the action. The other night, I decided to go downstairs for some pizza & beer and I ended up having a wild night of partying! My first stop was Automatic Slims, where there was $1 beers and a $200 pole dancing contest! Luckily I had my camera with me to capture some of the madness, heres a few of the shots I got.. enjoy!

Theophilus London Live at Rok Bar with Danny Daze {Article by Nick Flash}

As I scour the disco universe in search of all that is rad an innovative, I can almost always put my trust in "Overthrow" that they will deliver a slammin' party no matter what, when or where.

Tuesday, May 19th was the first time "Overthrow" {Alexis Mincola & Sam Baum} teamed up with south beach's nightclub guru Sebastian Puga to bring you a fresh event at Miami's Rock N' Roll themed discotheque, "Rok Bar." They brought in the lyrical stylings of Theophilus London and the turntable wizardry of Danny Daze, to bring you quite an interesting nightclub experience.

As far as Dj's go, your not really going to hear anyone quite as diverse as Danny Daze in your lifetime. Everytime I hear him mix, its quite inspirational. Danny seems to have an uncanny abitity to read a crowds mind wherever he goes, and really give the dance floor a nostalgic feeling as he drops club classic after club classic.

The most memorable songs that I heard him play that night were as follows,

1. Paul Simon- You can call me Al
2. Cut Copy- Lights & Music
3. Ace of Base- The Sign
4. Susan Vega- Tom's Diner
5. Newcleus- Jam on it.
6. Modest Mouse- Float on
7.Wu-Tang- Method Man
8. Chromeo- Bonafied Lovin'
9. Holy Ghost- Hold On
10. One way- Cutie Pie.

My only regrets was that he played alot of songs that were a little more on the mainstream side, when I'm pretty sure he could have gotten away with a whole bunch more underground indie dance & rock music because the crowd there seemed to eat up all that stuff the most. He also had a tendency to cut some songs way to short right as the crowd was getting into them. Nevertheless, Danny Daze continues to pioneer the club scene week after week and grow as one of America's most influential dj's.

Check out Danny Daze's myspace http://www.myspace.com/djdannydaze

Theophilus London was quite an extraordinary M.C. This Brooklyn based rapper took the stage at Rok bar and captivated the crowd with his infusion of Hip-Hop, Disco, Funk & Soul.
His energy was infectious, and his stage performance left quite a few people soaked with sweat.
He had groupies dancin' on the bar and every photographer in the place shootin' him at different angles. Be on the lookout for this artist in the years to come.

Check out Theophilus London's Myspace here Myspace.com/londonwave

Another dope aspect to the party was that my homie Lex Hernandez was there snappin' pictures
for his online blog 8mts.com. This cat Lex is one slck photographer and really gives each party he attends an artistic edge.. See if you can spy Nick Flash in his latest gallery.

Check out his pictures here.. 8mts.com

The only downsides to this party was that it started way late, and it seemed like the crowd was way more interested in being seen at the V.I.P section drinking champagne for free with all the "cool kids" rather than all about dancing and having fun to the killer music. At one point, Overthrow's V.I.P table seemed like it was a clusterfuck of people trying to squeeze in, while the dancefloor had plenty of room and the beats were pumpin.

Here are some pictures I snapped of the party so you can check it out yourself.

A peek @ Miami Fashion Week By Carla A. Caceres

Miami Fashion Week is an annual event held in Miami, Florida. It is held every year during the spring in the Wynwood Arts District and other hip spots around the beautiful city of Miami. Fashion Week was started in 1998 and it is the world's largest fashion event for Latin American and Caribbean fashion designers.

I was invited to many events during Fashion Week, and I made sure I was there to attend the hottest ones to give you the inside scoop. A couple that I attended were Miami Fashion Week in Soho Studios & Rock Fashion Week at the Fountain Bleau. These events included names such as : Lei Marco {He has been featured on Fashion TV many times, you can check out his website here leimarco.com} Abi Ferrin {I really liked her because she not only designs, but she has a great cause behind it all.} Abi Ferrin and her team are working with two rescue organizations who shelter the women out of the sex trade while they provide them with alternatives to abusive employment, you can check her website out at abiferrin.com. I got to check out these designers and many more. They were all amazing!

With all the madness that was going down in Miami Beach this week, no wonder all the stars wanted to "Be Scene" in Miami's alluring nightlife. I am happy to say I met some stars for myself including: Kristin Cavallari, Paul Oakenfold, Russel Simmons and Tommy Hilfiger, all at amazing venues and events, and thats just to name a few!

Here are some pics from the Abi Ferrin show, shot by Nick Flash. Enjoy!

Stay tuned, I'll be bringing you some more life of the fabulous soon.

ciao ciao,
